Lovett Boys V 2007 Season Game Record

Lovett Boys V 2006 Season Game Record

Lovett v Westminster 4/9/09

Lovett played their hearts out Thursday. The sun was a factor with lots of players saluting while looking for the ball. We held Westminster to a 0-0 game until the last seconds of the first half. Mavrik Dixon made the save and then the ball slipped through for a goal.  Cal Huntley gets the best player award for his constant perseverance in midfield. He got bonked on the head and had to
sit out most of the game, but he is OK. Eddie Nam, Teddy Rodts, Will Deisley, and Austin Mills had some great attempts on target but no goals.  Dan Hall came on and finagled a corner kick
for us. Westminster had a few shots first half but all wild except one that hit the post.  The Westminster team became bullish the second half and Colin Tucker and Jonovan Sackey weren't bothered at all. Mavrik Dixon had 3 great saves at the start of the half. Then he finished a spectacular save where he came way out of the box and did this cool slide kick. Standing O.

Our Seniors were fired up for their last Westminster game and the refs had to have a few chats with both teams. Joe Bailey, Charlie Gober and Harrison Dykes ran about 20 miles and never gave up. Dev Pandya made his Varsity debut. George "the cannon" had some great throw-ins.  Westminster got 2 goals in the second half.  Eddie just missed a direct kick from the 30 and Dan Hall's shot was saved. Our team played valiantly - the shots just weren't going in.  On to GAC next week for our last regular season contest.

Lovett v Mt. Paran, 4/3/09, 3-1

The Lovett team took time to get into its stride in this game, maybe due to tiredness after two dominant displays earlier in the week. Indeed it was Mount Paran who took the lead after a very good passing move all the way down the field. This seemed to motivate Lovett and after Eddie Nam had a shot well saved, Teddy Rodts scored with a powerful left foot shot following an Austin Mills cross which was only half cleared by a defender. Austin then struck a shot against the cross-bar. Mount Paran kept pressing however and Joe Bailey did well to clear a shot off the line with Mavrik Dixon then saving the follow-up shot. George Spencer was the first sub to be used and caused problems for the opposition with his prodigious throw-ins. He looked very calm and assured when in possession of the ball while another freshman, Cal Huntley, was also enjoying a very good game and displaying once again his useful close control.  With Jonovan Sackey and the promising Colin Tucker also both having another three seasons to play, the future for Lovett soccer looks particularly bright.

The freshmen continued to perform well early in the second half; George Spencer did well to block a shot, Cal showed more good touches and Jonovan combined well with Eddie in a passing interchange. Eddie then produced a good cross for Will Deisley whose header was well saved before Lovett took the lead for the first time in the game. William Anderson provided the assist for Eddie to beat one defender and put one of his trademark low hard shots into the corner of the goal. The third goal followed soon after; another Deisley header was saved, Austin Mills crossed the ball and Eddie fired home again in similar fashion. Before the end the unlucky Austin Mills hit the woodwork for the second time and the game finished 3-1, rounding off a successful week of 3 region victories.

Lovett v Atlanta Inter’l School 4/2/09, 3-1

Slip N Slide into The Playoffs!!!   Lovett needed to win just one of the last two games to qualify for the State Playoffs, but this AIS game was the greater challenge. Only three minutes into the game, Will Diesley hit a beautiful goal after a long solo run on a breakaway. Teddy Rodts had an amazing header off of Austin Mill's corner kick. Harrison Dykes, Joe  Bailey and Tyler Decker kept every ball coming back down to our end while Mavrik Dixon had some great saves.  Austin Mills assisted Eddie Nam for another fantastic Lovett goal and the half-time score was 3-0.

In the second half AIS seemed more aggressive causing Lovett to step up and work even harder . When the goalie was pulled out of the box, Harrison Dykes threw his body down in front of the net and saved a goal.  Tyler Decker got a yellow card for a legal but tangled up slide tackle. Jonovan Sackey and Cal Huntley were very busy and effective in the midfield. Eddie Nam had a great shot that incredibly ricocheted off of both posts and came out again.  AIS scored on a penalty kick so the final score was 3-1. The boys' uniforms were a sight to behold with all the sliding around but the end result is that we are bound for the state playoffs!

Lovett v North Cobb Christian

3/30/09, 8-1

It was more the nature of Lovett’s victory than the 8-1 score-line that was so impressive. This game proved that when the players are given a bit more time they can control and pass the ball as well as any team that we have played this season. ..…(see full story in 2009 Game Highlight Archives)

Lovett v Whitefield 2/26/09, 3-0

The most important game of the season so far saw Lovett record a very impressive 3-0 victory against region rivals Whitefield and this without the injured Teddy Rodts and despite the influential Eddie Nam having to leave the field with a hamstring injury after only 5 minutes.  …(see full story in 2009 Game Highlight Archives)

Lovett v North Atlanta, 2/23/09, 3-1

Lovett recorded an excellent 3-1 victory against a talented North Atlanta team. Coach Jewell must have been very happy with the level of hard work and strong tackling shown by his team. The defense had easily its best game so far with Harrison Dykes a strong contender for “Man of the Match” and Joe Bailey also having an excellent game. Will Deisley was the other contender for “Man of the Match” with a great hat-trick that was a testament to his never-say-die attitude but also to some cool finishing especially for his first goal… (see full story in 2009 Game Highlight Archives)

Lovett v North Cobb

Christian, 2/17/09, 5-0

Lovett started with its most adventurous formation so far for its first region game, with just 3 at the back (Joe Bailey, Harrison Dykes and William Anderson) and with 3 in attack (Will Deisley, Eddie Nam and Austin Mills).... (see full story in 2009 Game Highlight Archives)
